State Poet Laureate 

In 1919, Colorado became the first state to formally establish a state poet laureate position, which is currently held by Andrea Gibson, who was appointed to a four-year term in 2023. They are the author of several collections, including You Better Be Lightning (Button Poetry, 2021). Gibson is Colorado’s tenth poet laureate. 


City and County Poets Laureate 


Aurora

In 2022, Ahja Fox became the poet laureate of Aurora, Colorado. She will serve a two-year term.


Loveland 

In 2022, Lynn Kincanon was named the poet laureate of Loveland. 


Lafayette 

In 2022, Zbass Speaks was named the inaugural poet laureate of Lafayette. 


Pikes Peak

In 2021, Ashley Cornelius was appointed the poet laureate of Pikes Peak. 


San Miguel County 

In 2022, Joanna Spindler was appointed poet laureate of San Miguel County.
