As part of the Poetry Coalition’s inaugural effort, Because We Come from Everything: Poetry & Migration, this week we are featuring poems by contemporary poets related to the theme of migration in our Poem-a-Day series.

We begin with “María de la Luz Knows How to Walk” by former Chancellor and U.S. Poet Laureate Juan Felipe Herrera. Other featured poets this week are Chen Chen, Solmaz Sharif, Mai Der Vang, and Ocean Vuong.

Because We Come from Everything: Poetry & Migration is a month-long collaborative effort for which literary organizations across the country present programs and projects on the theme of migration. Learn more about what migration projects are taking place across the country this month and share your favorite lines from this week's Poem-a-Day series with #WeComeFromEverything.
