It's the final week of National Poetry Month. Take a look at celebrations happening across the country.

Gerald Stern and Open Mic Poetry Reading
Ocean County College in New Jersey will sponsor two free events for National Poetry Month. On April 25, OCC students will participate in an open mic poetry reading in the Larson Student Center. And, on April 28, renowned poet, essayist, and educator Gerald Stern will give a reading in the Black Box Theatre of the Grunin Center.

Poetry & the Creative Mind
The 14th annual Poetry & the Creative Mind gala will take place on April 27, at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall. The evening’s program will feature leading and legendary actors, dancers, artists, musicians, and public figures on one stage sharing their favorite poems.

National Poetry Month in Arlington, Massachussetts
Four poetry workshops are planned at locations around town, featuring Arlington's Poet Laureate Miriam Levine and local poet and author Cathie Desjardins. Levine will hold a workshop on poetry about place on April 27 at the Arlington Senior Center.

The Eleanor Hendricks Countywide Poetry Recitation for Children
Now in its 26th year, the recitation will be held April 30 in the Helen Foley Theater at Binghamton High School in Binghamton, New York. Students from twenty area schools in grades one to eight will perform memorized poems in a celebration of the written and spoken word.

Poetry Buses in Champaign-Urbana
The Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District has announced that it will display public poetry on its 40-foot buses from April 1 through June 30 in collaboration with the Champaign-Urbana Poetry Group for a public art project honoring National Poetry Month in April.
