Saeed Jones

Saeed Jones was born in Memphis, Tennessee, and grew up in Lewisville, Texas. He received a BA from Western Kentucky University and an MFA in creative writing from Rutgers University–Newark.

He is the author of Alive at the End of the World (Coffee House Press, 2022) and Prelude to Bruise (Coffee House Press, 2014), which was a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award and a Lambda Literary Award, and was awarded the 2015 PEN/Joyce Osterweil Award for Poetry and the 2015 Stonewall Book Award/Barbara Gittings Literature Award. 

Jones is also the author of the memoir How We Fight For Our Lives (Simon & Schuster, 2019,) which won the 2019 Kirkus Prize for Nonfiction.

Jones has received a Pushcart Prize and fellowships from Cave Canem and Queer Art Mentorship. He was the founding editor of BuzzFeed LGBT and its executive culture editor. Jones lives in Columbus, Ohio.
