Noah Eli Gordon

Noah Eli Gordon was born in 1975 in Cleveland and earned a BA and MFA in 1999 and 2004, respectively, from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Gordon was the author of ten collections of poetry, including Is That the Sound of a Piano Coming from Several Houses Down (Solid Objects, 2018); The Word Kingdom in the Word Kingdom (Brooklyn Arts Press, 2015); and Novel Pictorial Noise (Harper Perennial, 2007), which John Ashbery selected for the National Poetry Series. Gordon also served as an editor and co-publisher of several literary magazines, including The Volta and Letter Machine Editions. He was also director of Subito Press and Braincase Press.

Gordon joined the faculty of the University of Colorado Boulder in 2009, where he was an associate professor of English and an associate chair in the creative writing department. He lived in Denver, where he died in July 2022, at the age of forty-seven.
