Brandon Shimoda

Brandon Shimoda earned a BA from Sarah Lawrence College and an MFA in poetry from the University of Montana.

Shimoda is the author and coeditor of ten books of poetry and prose, including Hydra Medusa (Nightboat Books, 2023); The Grave on the Wall (City Lights Books, 2019), which received the 2020 PEN Open Book Award; and The Desert (The Song Cave, 2018).

Shimoda has taught at the University of Arizona, the University of Arizona Poetry Center, Kaohsiung American School in Taiwan, the University of Montana, Occidental College, Pacific Northwest College of the Arts/ Willamette University, and in Pima Community College’s Upward Bound program. He is currently an assistant professor of English at Colorado College.
