Tony Medina is the author of numerous titles, including Death, With Occasional Smiling (Indolent Books, 2021); Broke Baroque (2Leaf Press, 2013); and the graphic novel I Am Alfonso Jones (Tu Books, 2017), illustrated by Stacey Robinson and John Jennings.

The recipient of awards including the Paterson Prize for Books for Young People, the Langston Hughes Society Award, and the African Voices Literary Award, Medina is a professor of creative writing at Howard University.
