As a special collaboration for this year's National Poetry Month in April, we've teamed up with the League of Canadian Poets to create a guide for families, schools, and businesses to inspire and assist with local Poem in Your Pocket Day celebrations. The guide features poems by classic and contemporary American and Canadian poets.

National Poetry Month is approaching. Here are some events happening around the country for the week of March 28 to April 3.

Arizona Humanities
Arizona Humanities is hosting a series of programs celebrating National Poetry Month during the month of April. Free programs and workshops will take place in Gilbert, the San Carlos Apache Reservation, downtown Phoenix, and Flagstaff.

This week, we're featuring the Stories of Arrival: Refugee and Immigrant Youth Voices Poetry Project, an initiative that showcases poems by English Language Learner students at Foster High School in the Seattle area, many of whom were forced out of their countries and lived in refugee camps before arriving in the United States.

Sen. Al Franken's Poetry Contest
U.S. Senator for Minnesota Al Franken is hosting his fifth annual poetry contest for Minnesota students grades K-12. The theme of this year's contest is "Celebrating the Veteran in My Life." Poems must be submitted by April 19.
