Hope at Hand, an organization providing free poetry and art lessons for at-risk and vulnerable youth populations in Northern Florida, is celebrating National Poetry Month with the Jax Poetry Fest from April 4 through 7, 2018 in Duval County, Florida.

For National Poetry Month, Academy Chancellor Alberto Ríos is collaborating with Arizona State University (ASU) Now photographers Charlie Leight and Deanna Dent to create “visual sonnets." The project, whose name takes inspiration from the number of lines found in a sonnet, features fourteen photographs and poems.

Since 2008, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Eat Local :: Read Local has been celebrating the partnership between local restaurants and lovers of poetry in Milwaukee and Madison. Eat Local :: Read Local distributes printed poems to local restaurants for diners to enjoy during National Poetry Month.

Founded in 2009 by the Kellogg-Hubbard Library, PoemCity covers the stores and streets of Montpelier, Vermont, with 425 poems submitted by Vermonters, including schoolchildren, nationally recognized and award-winning writers, and various local talents. PoemCity also offers workshops, readings, and lectures.

Writers in the Schools (WITS) is transforming trees into “poet-trees” in Houston, Texas. Visitors are welcome to share their creations and hang them on “poet-trees” located along the Buffalo Bayou Trails in Eleanor Tinsley Park. DIY “Poet-Tree” kits are also available for those interested in setting up their own “poet-trees” in the area.
