Rose Styron

Rose Styron is a poet, journalist, translator, and international human rights activist. She has traveled widely for Amnesty International and other human rights organizations, in addition to chairing Amnesty International USA’s National Advisory Council, PEN’s Freedom to Write Committee, and the Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award. In 2009 and 2010, Styron was a resident fellow at Harvard’s Institute of Politics and its Carr Center for Human Rights.

Styron published the memoir Beyond This Harbor: Adventurous Tales of the Heart (Alfred A. Knopf, 2023) and has written the introductions to The Selected Letters of William Styron (Random House, 2012), which she also edited, and Letters to My Father (Louisiana State University Press, 2009) authored by William Styron. She has published four volumes of poetry, the most recent of which is Fierce Day (Friesen Press, 2015).

With Meryl Streep, Styron co-chaired Poetry & the Creative Mind on stage at Lincoln Center on behalf of the Academy of American Poets each April.
